First, the good news: we buy LEGO in any condition — sorted or unsorted, dusty or display-ready. You do not need to spend a weekend organizing before you sell. That said, fifteen minutes of light prep keeps your shipment smooth and your payout maximized. Here's exactly what's worth doing and what isn't.
Step 1: Pull Out What We Can't Pay For
Anything that isn't genuine LEGO adds shipping weight without adding payout. Before boxing up, remove:
New to selling LEGO? Our complete guide walks through valuing your bricks, where to sell, and safety tips.
- Off-brand blocks — Mega Bloks, KRE-O, Best-Lock, and lookalikes
- Duplo bricks — we don't currently accept them
- Batteries and electronics — required for safe shipping; pull them from any motorized parts
- Cardboard boxes and instruction booklets — keep or recycle these at home
- Crumbs and debris — give bins a quick shake-out
Step 2: To Clean or Not to Clean?
We professionally clean everything we receive, so washing is optional. If your bricks have spent years in a garage and you'd like to freshen them anyway:
- Quick wash: put bricks in a mesh laundry bag and run a gentle, cool cycle with mild soap
- Air dry only: spread on towels and let dry completely — never use a dryer, which can warp pieces
- Skip harsh chemicals: no bleach or abrasive cleaners; they damage the plastic finish
Step 3: Pack Like a Pro
- Use sturdy boxes — double-wall cardboard is ideal; LEGO is heavy and shifts in transit
- Fill empty space with packing paper so the load doesn't slosh
- Tape every seam — bottom included; a 40-lb box of bricks tests cheap tape
- Keep it under 50 lbs per box — request additional free labels if you have more
What Happens After You Ship
- 1Your box arrives and gets logged the same day
- 2We weigh and inspect the contents (typically 2–3 business days)
- 3Payment is sent via PayPal or bank deposit within 5 business days of inspection
That's the whole playbook. Fifteen minutes of prep, one trip to UPS, and the bins are gone. If anything in your collection has you unsure, our FAQ covers every edge case — or just email us.
